Default Finishing Cedar Logs

I realize that this might not be the appropriate forum for this
question, but I figured you guys would have an answer.

Part of the construction of our new lake home includes a small rustic
porch. We've elected to use stripped cedar logs for the support posts.

My question is this: besides a water-sealer(a.k.a. Thompson's), is there
any kind of finish that would help preserve the natural color of the logs?

I realize that I may have to be content with the inevitable silver
patina, but we'd prefer the white wood look. Any suggestions?

Keep sun light off of the wood. The sun light is what fades the wood color.
Alternatively, if you pressure wash the faded wood the natural color will be
restored.
You can use protective varnishes but they too break down with time in the
sun light.

The only thing Thompson's is good for is starting fires or killing
weeds and maybe not even that. Rated as crap years ago in Consumer
Reports and never improved AFAIK. HTH
