Default Old hand tool refurbishment - do it or leave as is? Thanks for ideas

Thanks for all the responses.
The question of not knowing if I should even clean them has now been answered, and I've got one more thing on my 'to do' list.
I'm embarrassed that I never considered electrolysis. My brain wasn't making the wood-metal connection.
I'll start with one of the heavily rusted rusted bits so I don't have to worry about handles, steel wool and green pad it, then see what happens in a bath.
Thanks, again!
