I once encased an 8' lower section of a cresote telephone pole with
western red cedar. The pole presented a nasty problem for the unknowing children catching the school bus at this site. I adorned the octagonal casing, top and bottom, with simple moldings/dressing, as if it were a porch/veranda column. The casing is in 2 halves, latched together and easily removable, for whenever any utility workman needs to climb the pole. It has since weathered nicely and is still very functional after 10+ years. Hence, whatever suits your scenario. |
