Bending Maple
I've got a plan from an older Wood magazine issue to make a toboggan. They
use ash in there project, would maple a good substitute for bending? The strips will be cut 1/16" in thickness and will be bent around a 16" form to make the front of the toboggan. |

The main consideration is to use split timber (not sawn) that's as green as you can get it. I'd always use something I felld myself for this sort of task, and then I'd bend it that same week. Choice of species is a minor issue - not everything works, but you should have something local that would. |
