Default veneer settling time

I bought a new oyster veneer night table from shop in england. Over
the last winter (I live in Maine) it developed cracks all over the
venner. I would like to get this repaired but my question is how long
should I wait for the veneer to settle? Is one winter enough or
should it be longer?
