This is an interesting vid clip about what they term as a "Do Nothing Machine". Although it doesn't seem to have any practical purpose at first glance, I certainly wouldn't say it does nothing. There are a number of interesting mechanical principles that are not commonly known. It would seem to me that this craftsman could work with a local school industrial arts teacher to come up with a great presentation for students. The various mechanical principles could be explained with a foil presentation and hand out sheets for reference and study. Then the principles could be demonstrated and carefully observed by the students. I would think this would be a fantastic device that would be great as an education tool. This man is obviously a very skilled craftsman, and I can only imagine the thought and the hours he put into this project. He must have quite a variety of tools in his shop as well. Hope you enjoy the vid. http://tinyurl.com/5tokso Bob-tx That was an awesome invention! Reminded me of the inside of a 70s Italian photo copier... Wonder how he kept the friction so low? |
