Default pergola

Building my wife a pergola. Beams are 75 year old untreated pine 2 X
6 ceiling joist I acquired from a house I helped tear down. Plan to
stain it redwood and then two coats of a marine poly. This old wood
will need help to last exposed to the weather. Comments, suggestions,
and any advise would be appreciated.

Use a good semi-transparent oil based stain and skip the poly. The poly
will only peel.

Right!

I recommend Olympic Maximum Cedar Tint oil.

Reapply every 2-3 years...
