I am just getting into a new hobby - scroll saw work. I purchased
a used scroll saw, not great quality, but an affordable price. I checked out the three books available at our library for starters; two of them were patterns. A few of them looked like they might be good starter projects and the book authorized copying them for personal use. However, because of the book binding, they would not lay flat on a copier. I'd appreciate any suggestions on sources of reasonably priced patterns that come on single sheets so they can be placed on the wood. Also, any suggestions on types of wood that works best for thin wall mounting scroll work. I purchased a 1 X 12 that was real nice wood, fine grain and clean of knots. When I cut off a piece 12 inches long, it immediately warped. I also purchased a 3' X 3' square piece of ply wood 1/4 inch thick. Have not cut into it yet so don't know how it will be. Any tips and suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance, Bob-tx |
