I've never actually sold anything but a wedding goblet that anyone planned to actually drink out of, though.. mac Please remove splinters before emailing |

OOh - nice chatoyance (sp) on the ringed goblet. Do they have a good
poly finish on 'em or what? I presume they're turned for use. Nice job... ....Kevin -- Kevin Miller http://www.alaska.net/~atftb Juneau, Alaska Registered Linux User No: 307357 |

wrote: OOh - nice chatoyance (sp) on the ringed goblet. Kind of funny... I didn't know what "fiddleback" was and when I started rough sanding that goblet I thought that I was revealing tearout! I sent a picture to Chuck, who sent me the wood, and he mentioned chatoyance and that the rings around the goblet were SUPPOSED to be there... I'd never seen anything like that before, especially running at a right angle to the grain.. Do they have a good poly finish on 'em or what? Just wet sanded with Danish oil, with a final rub on coat.. then buffed.. I presume they're turned for use. Only the wedding goblet, and then just once..lol Theoretically, the Oil and carnauba wax should be food safe.. probably alcohol safe, but they're pretty much decorations.. As I told the client that I'm doing the cocobolo goblets for, at over $100 each, he could buy his sister some really nice crystal if she was going to drink out of them.. I think he's giving them to her for Christmas, to be displayed at a winery that they're opening next year.. Nice job... Thank you... that means quite a bit, coming from you.. mac Please remove splinters before emailing |
