Having just burned out the 1 hp motor in my Delta 14" bandsaw (w/riser)
while cutting bowl blanks from green walnut logs, I'm looking for advice on the most (cost) effective upgrade for this machine. I'm reluctant to lobby SWMBO for the cost of a big Italian bandsaw, so I'm trying to work out a motor replacement/upgrade. Can this frame handle a 2 hp motor? I'll probably go straight to 220V for whatever I settle on. Is form factor for the replacement a big issue, or do most motors fit most mounts? Thanks for any advice you can offer. --tom |
