Default BotPot Works! Video Here

The BotPot / BotBowl was a Wild Hare Idea to try and make a reality.
Turning something big enough to hide the micro-bot under was the
first of several hurdles to overcome, getting the piece down to 62
grams or less (that's about a dozen sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 weight to
give you an idea of what 62 grams means) was the most time consuming
(and nerve wracking) part of the project.

Just did a quick little video and put it up on my site. Near the bottom
of this page click on "click here" to get to the video. It's 420K so if
you're on dial-up it'll take a minute to download. And if you don't
have a relatively current web browser - it may not work for you.

Heh, heh! Played it three times!! I take it the shadow near the end is your
hands clapping to get it moving again?

Yes. And they also are in the shot catching
this thing as it walked off the edge of my
assembly bench.

This was a quick and dirty video done with
a digital camera in video mode so the production
value leaves a lot to be desired. When the
whole piece is done I'll do a better video - in
a light box, with seamless background and
better lighting.

I still need to get the micro-balloons and fill
the bowl with "sugar", turn a lid for this
sugar bowl, and maybe turn a little sugar
spoon to complete the sugar bowl set.

I'm thinking of of doing a scurrying coffee
cup, or mug and a little cream pitcher to make
a complete set - coffee, cream and sugar.

But first I'll finish the sugar bowl - and take
a break from Bots for a while - or at least
from doing REALLY REALLY light pieces.

You have way too much free time! Neat idea, though.

Yes, and ain't it wonderful to have enough free time to explore
any Wild Hare Idea that pops up tht seems worth pursuing?

Neat idea, though.

And I now know how to make REALLY light pieces. This thing is
5 1/2" in diameter and 2 3/4" tall - yet weighs under 2 ounces

I gave the MiniMonster captured hollowing system a reall work out
- without using the laser.

Now I know to include ways of chucking a re-chucking and reverse
chucking into the design of a piece ( turning a part of a piece then
discovering there's no way to hold it to turn the rest ain't fun).

I now realize that some of what I thought were merely decorative
like a bead around the top and bottom of a piece - are actually
a way to reinforce delicate areas for inside chucking.

Learned a lot of new things with this one. The fact that it works
as planned - icing on the cake.

Do you have a vacuum chuck? Mine has saved my bacon more than once.
