Default International Woodworking and Turning Exhibition 2005

The October issue of Woodturning carried a full page advert for this
exhibition at Coventry but I can't find the advertised web site
www.iwte.co.uk. Can anyone point me to a web site that will provide me with
some information about the programme? TIA

I have a 15 year old Coronet No 3 lathe which is substantially the same as
the Record CL3. I've just bought the Variable Speed Upgrade but have not
fitted it. Record assure me that the upgrade fits my Coronet Lathe. Does
anyone have any practical experience or tips on fitting the upgrade? Doesn't
look too complicated to do but I thought I'd ask first.

Hi Derek,

Due to change that have occurred within the company, this has cause
major problems not just on the IWTE site but the whole of the company
site. We have a web team working on the site at present and I have been
told that it should be up and running by next week.

IWTE Info:

"If there was nothing new in woodworking then we would have to reinvent
the wheel. Mind you, it was probably the woodturners who invented the
wheel in the first place, and they're still doing the rounds on their
lathes today, and much, much more besides.

Woodworking today is a continuing craft tradition, and The
International Woodworking & Turning Exhibition at Stoneleigh Park (14th
to 16th October) brings together both the tradition, the history, and
the craft developments of today. Put together with all that is new in
woodworking machinery and tools, and the latest and best models on
offer from leading manufacturers and suppliers, there is a whole new
world of woodworking to discover.

The International Woodworking & Turning Exhibition features top
craftsmen from a wide range of woodturning disciplines - cabinetmaking,
woodturning, woodcarving, modelmaking and pyrography and offers
workshops, masterclasses and demonstrations passing on new skills and
techniques and the ways of working they have personally developed -
what used to be called the 'mysteries' of the craft.

History will be featured in a modern context and we commemorate the
200th October anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and the death of
Nelson with the 1805 Collection of craftwork including furniture and
sculpture made from wood and other materials reclaimed from HMS Victory
during maintenance and restoration over the years.

Also recreating history will be pole lathe turner and historical
researcher Robin Wood who has studied and copied the ways of making
traditional wooden eating bowls down the centuries.

Top British woodturners will include Stuart Mortimer, Gary Rance, John
Berkeley and Ray Jones and their work ranges from thin walled
decorative vessels, to hand chased threads and simpler furniture, with
plenty for all enthusiasts to learn from.

See figure work and portraiture in wood with Master Carver Michael
Painter and take in other Masterclasses on wood finishing, woodturning,
routing and wood machining.

Clubs and associations catering for different woodworking interests
will also be on hand with practising craftsmen and displays of work,
this will include the 'Top 50' pieces of turned work drawn from the
Association of Woodturners International Woodturning Seminar.

There are featured competitions with great prizes for woodturners and
routing enthusiasts and all visitors will have the chance to win!

Most of all the IWTE offers the chance to find so many of the leading
manufacturers, such as Felder and Hammer plus specialist woodworking
suppliers all together under one roof in an independent show offering
the latest and best in woodworking tools, equipment and associated
supplies with many offering special show prices that you can't afford
to miss.

"The International Woodworking & Turning Exhibition at Stoneleigh
Park represents a perfect vehicle for Felder & Hammer to present our
products to real woodworkers. When show visitors see our products in
person, many are literally bowled over by the build quality. Shows
like this are still very important for both visitors and exhibitors to
communicate and build relationships.

Of special interest at this year's show is the premier of the new
Hammer series. Many improvements and upgrades have been made to this
already very successful line of machinery, including the introduction
of a new "basic" model range of slightly smaller Hammer machinery,
at a more economical price point. We look forward to meeting new
visitors at the show and keeping in touch with all the regulars". -
