Regulation 607 query

That's rubbish, Sir. On Class 2 (non-earthed) equipment you should find both the CE mark and the 'double-square' symbol, which indicates Class 2 construction. No it does not, it indicates that the manufacturer _claims_ it meets class II requirements. Nothing more. While much kit really does conform, IME much does not. Switchers normally do, home stereos mostly dont. It is possible that the original designs do conform, but that during production they then decide to leave out some unnecessary bits. NT |

If you know of non-compliant equipment on retail sale your local Trading Standards office will be very interested in hearing about it. -- Andy |

Almost every power amplifier for stage use (think JBL/Crown) fails on this point. Don't know about high end home amplifiers but wouldn't be surprised to find the same thing. |

There are plenty of 4-way socket strips that I greatly suspect of only claiming BS1363 and CE compliances. -- Ed Sirett - Property maintainer and registered gas fitter. There are lots of things claiming CE compliance that wouldn't stand a hope of passing any test applied to them - from children's fluffy toys to men's not so fluffy ones. And apparently they're extending this scheme to building materials :-( |
