type of lock?
From: Andrew Barnes )
Subject: type of lock? I have old victorian doors in my house. They have locks which are screwed onto the door rather than cut into the door. Any idea what these are called? I would like some new brass ones. Silly lad, take em down to a proper locksmiths and get them to make keys for it. You dont need original keys to copy, as long as you got to a place where the locksmith knows one elbow from the other. Clean up the old ones and you'll have a lock that should last another 100 years, and be original too. Just silly to remove them and fit lightweight replacements, at greater parts and labour cost. If you must remove them for reasons unknown, send em to me. NT |
