Bathroom Ceiling Problem
In the past I had a problem with black fungus patches on the bathroom
ceiling. To overcome this problem I stripped of the paint and coated the ceiling with PVA/water to re-seal the ceiling. I then painted over this with an expensive anti-condensation paint. I also fitted a centrifugal extractor fan in the wall. This solved the problem and no more black patches have appeared. Now however, my expensive paint has started to flake off the ceiling. Can anyone advise a more permanent fix. TIA |

Open the window after a bath/shower.
Most bathrooms get too humid for anything else to work imo. In the past I had a problem with black fungus patches on the bathroom ceiling. Keep door closed and dehumidifier on for a little while after the bath. Can also recover some of the heat used to evaporate the water in the first place. |

Bathroom Ceiling Problem
You will need to remove the existing paint (tricky) and try again, but this
time use a better bonding agent than PVA/Water. You will also need to allow time for the application to dry fully (days) prior to applying the water-proof paint otherwise you will trap moisture behind the paint which is why it has bubbled and now flaked off. Tangoman |
