My new kitchen worktops arrive tomorrow with the butt and scribe joints
already cut. Should I use waterproof ResinW between the pieces (they are standard 40mm Formica laminate) or is there a special product for this to get a better joint or colour match ? |

See http://www.trendmachinery.co.uk/fill%26seal/ Ideally you should use clamps to hold the two parts together, and biscuits to keep the two halves at the same level. Michael Chare |

B&Q sell stuff called "colourfill" which seems to be coloured car body filler, or something like it. You can match the colour reasonably well to most worktops & it waterproofs the joint as well as filling any small imperfections. -- Tim Mitchell |

I've got mine on order from Stantons of Weybridge: they do scribe joints, curved end breakfast bar tops and a number of other options, and have hundreds of colour choices. They won't do the cutouts for hobs and sinks unless you are collecting because of the risk of damage in transit. -- Tony Bryer SDA UK 'Software to build on' http://www.sda.co.uk Free SEDBUK boiler database browser http://www.sda.co.uk/qsedbuk.htm |
