You wouldn't have complained about the deeper austerity that would have
been necessary to avoid so much borrowing?

I did and do complain about the tax cuts to the best off at the start of
austerity. That money could have been used to reduce borrowing.

But when the tax rate was cut the tax take went up and the best off
subsequently paid a higher %age of total income tax.
