Are the modern single piece wiper blades any better than the traditional

Did they cure the horrible scraping noise when its not quite wet enough but

I had to resort buying traditional blades with with an additional inbuilt aerofoil to provide the pressure to keep the blade in contact with the screen (2001 Ford Focus). They don't judder over the whole sweep like traditional blades have a tendancy to do. Any judder, which isn't often, is just after they change direction. They apply liquid wax in the final rinse which might make the rest of the car look nice and shiny for a while but buggers up the windscreen. It might be OK with a downpour but is notable in light rain when it just causes smear. My cars never go near a car wash and it's years since I experienced any judder.
