Default Detached house chimney problem

It looks to me like the chimneys are the wrong way round on this house

wouldn't they normally be front and back above the end wall, not inside and outside?

It's a toy house made by someone to whom chimneys are just things that
are randomly stuck on rooves.

And resemblance to a real house is entirely accidental

The biggest threat to humanity comes from socialism, which has utterly
diverted our attention away from what really matters to our existential
survival, to indulging in navel gazing and faux moral investigations
into what the world ought to be, whilst we fail utterly to deal with
what it actually is.

Normally they would be 90 degrees different to how they are shown. But
not always. In any case, chimneys in that position are very difficult
for the aerial installer, especially when there are no proper ridge
tiles. It usually means getting up to the horizontal ridge (apex) using
a roof ladder, then taking a short ladder up and lowering it down to the
chimney. Then there's the problem of putting the corner plates on the
corners that you can't reach.
Very often the leading behind the chimney is full of leaves etc and
sometimes that causes a leak into the loft.
