Positioning of CCTV cameras
As part payment for a job I've been given a CCTV system. I've never
really thought about installing CCTV before but I may as well do it now, but I've no idea about best placement for the cameras. They're 2MP 1080p bullet cameras (4 off) with IR LEDs for night viewing. In this photo he https://www.dropbox.com/s/z3l434ryjt..._0371.JPG?dl=0 would position A be the best or B, and would you fix to wall or on wood 'roof'? Also, in this photo: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bchmo3kbxh..._0374.jpg?dl=0 would C or D be the best place? I suppose this is less important as both positions would get anyone tampering with the car and/or walking up the driveway, but is it better closer to the front of the house? |

One over the front door covers the car, the driveway and half of the garden area. I'll put one at position C or D to look along the drive and then another camera at the back of the house :-) |

Trouble with lower is that its too easy for the crim to smash off. |

blabbered, again: A policeman on the telly was saying not to place a security camera too high else all you get is the top of someone's hoodie. Trouble with lower is that its too easy for the crim to smash off. Darn, this senile omniscient cretin knows it better, yet again! I put two, one front and one back, on the first floor soffits, where they can see anyone approaching, not just directly underneath, but the ground is out of range for the infra red illumination at night, until the external lighting come on. I put another one on the integral garage soffit that looks at the front doorthat is in range for the infra red. Any ne'er-do-well being alert enough to notice it and equipped to damage it will be covered by the 1st floor camera. |
