Default Which new 315mm 30mm bore table saw blade?

got a 2nd hand rexon table saw and I think it would benefit from
a new blade.

No idea what to get, but budget seems to need to be £20-30?

Currently it has a 305mm 80T blade on it that cuts thin - 20mm say
timber ok it does not feel particularly sharp to the hand (whilst
stationary).

Attempting to rip a lump of oak approx 50mm thick started ok but
before the blade was fully into the cut, the blade started
burning the wood and "that was that"...

Any advice on what spec blade for general usage? E.g. How many
teeth? That seems to dictate price in general.

TIA

You really should have different blades for ripping and cross grain work.
But I guess an acceptable compromise for a single blade would be 35-40
teeth with ATB ground teeth and depth of cut limiters.
I like Freud blades and you can pick them up on ebay or Toolsatan keep a
range in stock.
Freud tend to have reasonable sized tips allowing several regrinds
before it need to the replaced.
Correctly sharpened each tip will draw blood so the one you have
possibly needs a trip to the saw doctor.

an 80T blade will not make a particularly good ripping blade (although
its not a bad choice for a general purpose table saw blade). I you are
ripping more difficult hard woods, then you may need to take several
passes - say cut 1" deep the first time, and then flip the timber end to
end or raise the blade for a second pass.

Any advice on what spec blade for general usage? E.g. How many

I think I have a 48T titan (or possibly forest) blade on mine - its ok
ripping 2" stock unless trying to rip very narrow strips.

I am tempted to get a more specialist ripping blade though for working
on "proper" wood.

Thanks gents.

So a look on eBay and Amazon offers

Bosch optiline
Spartacus
Draper expert
Kreator

All within a few pounds, all between 40 and 60 teeth, all ATB.

Any preference?

I'd go for the biggest tips = more regrinds before you have to throw it
away. and make sure it has the cut limiters.

I've a feeling that Bosch might have bought Freud but not sure.

Mmm the joys of distance buying :-)

The pics online don't show much detail.

What's a cut limiter look like?

Re sharpen it with a diamond blade in a tile cutter.

What's a cut limiter look like?

It is a protruding ear behind/in front of each tip.

Like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Freud-Pro-...item5405455e1e

It limits how deep each tooth will cut and helps avoid snarl up and
kick-back

I think freud do a 305mm not 315mm diameter LP20 or LP30 series should
be suitable as a combi blade.

Re sharpen it with a diamond blade in a tile cutter.

How do you do that? There's 80 teeth...

Think I'd rather spend 20 quid :-)
