How to build a playlist of Radio 4 programs?
At present I go to bed and put on Radio 4 and fall asleep, it turns into the world service and if I wake up, I listen for a bit then fall asleep again, without the radio there is less sleep. Paradoxically the more interesting the program the more likely I am to fall back asleep. I have a spare Android tablet and if I could program it to play me Radio 4 factual programs through the night I would sleep better.
Any ideas how can I build a playlist from the iplayer? ta |

From my experience of the iPlayer radio app you can't queue programmes you've downloaded so you'd only be able to have one on via the timer |

I completely agree with the paradox related to interestingness. -- Rod |

From my experience of the iPlayer radio app you can't queue programmes you've downloaded so you'd only be able to have one on via the timer Agreed, I just have a bunch of downloads and play them as required. If I have fallen asleep in the middle of one, I replay it if it was interesting. If one finishes before I fall asleep, I just play the next one. I don't really feel the need for a timer. Don't like the latest update of the Android iPlayer app though, with the 2 column format (on 7 inch tablet). Until then, I thought it was more or less perfect. The other thing I find mildly irritating is when you listen to an iPlayer download and the audio tells you an extended version is available on podcast. You then have to search through the convoluted and non-intuitive web pages, set up a podcast app, and generally faff around. Why can't they just add a link to the extended file in iPlayer? |

Watch the volume though. Install some sort of limiter? One of the family has her tiny clock radio on full blast to distract her night time tinnitus, and apart from disturbing the rest of the house and subliminally installing strange right wing ideas via LBC's callers, I suspect it's progressively done her some additional hearing damage of its own. -- Adrian C |

Why not download some of the excellent free audiobooks available on say Gutenberg, and listen to those instead? -- New Socialism consists essentially in being seen to have your heart in the right place whilst your head is in the clouds and your hand is in someone else's pocket. |

From my experience of the iPlayer radio app you can't queue programmes you've downloaded so you'd only be able to have one on via the timer If you cant queue programmes on the iplayer radio app I can thoroughly recommend podkicker, (its free) https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...podka&hl=en_GB (there are doubtless dozens of others and each will have their own favourite) all BBC programmes seen to be available and downloaded podcasts can easily be added to a playlist. (Also gives scope for Non BBC speech radio - I find quite a bit on NPR) -- Chris B (News) |
