Default Shower Mixer Type

since 1988 I have had a Mira 415 Pressure Balancing Shower valve with
complete satisfaction.

When I update the bathroom should I stick to this type (limited range) or
can I have some other type of valve. Temp control has never been an issue.
It has worked perfectly with two boilers over its life.

How is the hot water heated?

Pressure balanced showers are designed for operation with combis
typically, where a normal thermostatic action can have unexpected effects...

I fitted a thermostatic shower in the old house, on a system with
a combi. It worked very well for the remaining 5 years that we
lived there. Only thing I had to do was fit Pressure Reducing
Valve as we had higher water pressure and it made the shower
valve produce whistling noise.

It was Mira Excel IIRC
