Default (Totally OT) Combs

Apropos of nothing really, I was standing in the bathroom this morning,
and suddenly realised I do not own a comb, and have not done so for
years. I doubt there is a comb in the house, and my 14 year old has
probably never seen one. Looking at eBay, there are few available,
which speaks volumes, eBay sellers existing to satisfy almost any
demand.

There was a time when I, like everyone else, always had a comb in my
pocket. When did the habit die? With the death of the traditional
short back and sides? Combs used to be everywhere. Every shop in every
touristy place sold combs, stamped Clacton or wherever. Haven't noticed
a comb for sale for years. Mind you, to need a comb, one needs hair :-)

I wonder how many people still regularly carry a comb, or even use a
comb.

You really need a jacket. A lot less people wear jackets now - even at work.

I would have thought them far more important for people with long hair.

I have one in my back pocket right now, one next to the hand basin in
the bathroom and one in my travel bag. I can't imagine not needing one
so long as I have hair on my head.

You haven't been looking. All the supermarkets, chemists, etc sell
them.

I have hair, though out in strong sunlight I'm going to have to start
wearing hat soon. Don't carry one apart from in overnight bag. Use
one at least once a day or I look like I've dragged through a hedge
backwards.

I never used Brylcreem and did use a comb occasionally for decades.

Currently I mow my head using some decent clippers and mow
it pretty close because that’s much easier to do so I hardly ever
need to comb it anymore.

I have a comb in mein pocket. How else would I comb my hair,

Not used a comb for 25 years, (I'm 50)

Most men have their hair sheared off very short, either at the barbers or
they DIY, I fall into the latter, having it lopped down to 6mm every four
weeks or so

some men try to grow it longish (over 2 inches) and I suppose they need
combs, these are usually thinning in places and utilise what they have left
to disguise the barren bits, whilst others who are also thinning a bit shave
the lot off and look better for it

Most of my life I should have used a comb, most of my life I haven't
used one because they evaporate. Somewhere there is a comb mountain
where they have all gone. Put one in a pocket and it is never seen
again, the only ones that stayed for a while were attached with a bit
of string to the Sunshade in the car so there was one easily to hand
if my appearance was too unruly to confront a customer with.

Comb over. Can't do that if you only have a brush. ;-)

Not me. Hair too curly, gets stuck in a comb, use a brush with widely
spaced spikes in a rubber base.

I mow mine ultra short, mainly because its much easier to
do it that way than longer so dont need to comb anything
after washing it which I do every time I shower unless I
shower more than once a day in the hottest weather.
