There is however a powerful argument that the accuser is entitled to their day in court, How does that so-called argument stack up, then? If I say to a copper, "You hit my mate!" am I entitled to my day in court? if it's just one person's word against another's. If the accuser has been proved to be a liar before the trial even begins then of course the CPS ought to withdraw the case. What OUGHT to happen is for all parties involved to have anonymity up to the trial, and then neither accuser nor accused should have it during the trial. The CPS should not send out fishing expeditions to trawl for accusations from people who otherwise wouldn't have bothered to make any accusation. The system as it is at present is grossly unfair, biased and typical of vindictive British "justice". |
