Any idea of the typical rating for a tumble dryer motor (early 1980's, if
it makes a difference)?

I just got hold of an old Rockwell 10" bandsaw, minus its motor. Far as I
can find out, the original motor was rated at 1/2HP and 1725 rpm - it
should be relatively easy to pick one up, but then it did occur to me
that I have a junk tumble dryer sitting in one of the sheds. I suspect
that it's more like 1/3HP (if that) though, and so probably not up to the
task, but thought I'd ask here...

p.s. I've barely had any time for usenet this summer - there are now
