Default Rebated wood cladding / overlap joint

Anyone got any idea where I could get this (East Sussex) - doesn't seem to
be available off the shelf anywhere...

Ideally treated (it's for soffits) - but it's quite well sheltered so I
could make do without.

The next best option would be shiplap but I'm looking for a nominally flat
surface, where each board is easy to remove for access.

T+G is out and I don't want ply (because it looks crap).

http://www.timbercladding.org/Design...sualStyle.aspx

7th from left image is what I'm after - with ot without the "V"

Cheers!

Tim

I bought some 6th. from left from our local fencing supplier. One thing
to remember: the dimensions tend to be pre-machining and hugely
different from finished size.

And the wood will probably shrink unless you let it dry out before using it.

Shrinkage isn't usually a problem outdoors

It was with mine. They now have a 2mm shrinkage in each joint. my builder advised to mount them vertically to avoid the risk of rot after shrinkage.

These are for soffits so, apart from hose spray, they never get wet (mostly)

Any decent timber mill should machine this up for you.

And pressure treat it after milling.

Ah - so these mills - how does one find them?

I have looked - only found regular wood merchants and the only place that
comes near to being a mill is more of a hardwood specialist.

I don't see it - only rebated loglap. Sadly they are not in my area (Sussex)
- our main merchant is Alsfords. They are OK for off the shelp, but ordering
is a PITA, machining expensive (unless it's a quick run through the on site
thicknesser in which case they are very good) and preserved cladding is
"send it away for a bulk charge".

The weird thing is that I see what looks like rebated square soffits on
loads of retail buildinsg and even our school - so it seem common enough.

Mid Sussex Timber say "Machining / Milling - We are able to reproduce
any moulding and cut or plane Timber to size, in our versatile state of
the art mill at our Forest Row Branch. We are also delighted to provide
a contract milling service for our client's own Timber profiles."

I gave up...

It seems to be like unobtanium and milling to order is going to be stupidly
expensive.

I'll make do with shiplap - that's cheap adn easy to get...
