At school in the science lab it was a common way to annoy the teacher who was demonstrating an experiment with a bunsen on his desk. Boys used to blow into the gas outlet on their desk, and the teacher's bunsen would go out. The teachers used to watch out for the blowers, so we used to use bicycle pumps while sitting upright attentively. The school never exploded, I'm not sure why.
