the UK IS doing something with nuclear power..
Rolls-Royce buys second US company
UK engineering company Rolls-Royce has acquired US-based nuclear engineering services provider PKMJ Technical Services for an undisclosed sum. Lawrie Haynes, president-nuclear at Rolls-Royce, said the acquisition "represents another significant step towards growing our global civil nuclear business." The company bought US-based specialist reactor services provider R Brooks Associates in September 2011. http://www.world-nuclear-news.org/default.aspx -- Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc-ra-cy) a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers. |

Unless it is more to do with building nuclear submarines.... No, its not. RR have accepted that they cant get into main civil reactor building - too much investment, too risky - but they are very big in the control systems that go in as well. They don't build aircraft either - just engines. But they do have more than a foothold in the nuclear business, and if the political climate changes.. -- Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc-ra-cy) a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers. |

I guess they had better brighten up their image, is this the same Rolls Royce accused of back handers to sell their engines? is there another way to sell engines in today's world? Salesmen and 'facilitators' all work on commissions... Of cxourse HGE or parrtt and Whitney are always happy to paint the competition black when they fail to make a major sale. Because their bribes weren't big enough.
