We've had that in a local village for ages and it works far better than
any other method. Ok you can see them as power-mad but at least they're
devoting some time and effort to make their environment safe and that
deserves some respect. The real issue is that many of the latest limits
are over the top for the vast majority of any 24 hours. If limits were
more intelligently applied, I suspect they would be more readily observed.

Think we have it round here as well, or at least if you ask the local
plod they will get the hairdryer and make a show of using it. Trouble
is the policing has now changed and "our local plod" now cover most
of NE Cumbria...

Hi-viz waist coats hung on gate posts and visible from a distance
work quite well as well. But only for a short while but if they are
moved about the area randomly...

actually, no. It is generally local residents concerned about the
excessively high speeds of vehicles in their area.

66mph in a 30mph zone less than 100m from the shpping area is just one of
the offences our local team has measured.

What makes you think they would take any more notice if they were higher?
What is needed is more being caught.
Then they would obey whatever limit was set.
I suggest an electronic road tax disk with built in GPS and an RFI tag.
Always catch the speeders and they will stop speeding.

So your one of the ****s that can't write down number plates properly,

Every so often i get a letter from the police saying my car has been spotted
by a community speed watch scheme doing a few mph over the limit, and not to
be a naughty boy again.

I have had them from the areas of Birmingham, Norwich, Brighton and
somewhere in wales,

Thing is i have never been to the places im accused of being, and on 1 of
the dates i had a car park permit for the hospital with my reg number on it
for an overnight stay i have to do fairly regularly, and i had obtained the
ticket about 20 minutes before i was supposedly 300 miles away doing 34mph
in a 30 zone.

Each time i phone the police up and get them to check if there's a clone of
my car about, they take a day or so to they check the ANPR cameras around
the areas in question for the date, and come back that no car of that reg
number was ever in the area.

One of the officers said that most of the people who do the speed watch
thing are illiterate... he trailed off then so i couldent catch if he said
******s, wazzocks, waste of spaces or similar.

So these ****s are thinking they are doing a good job, the people who are
'speeding' never get told and innocent people get the letters instead, and
then the police have to use up their time checking into the possibility of a
clone car being about.

Always catch the speeders and they will stop speeding.

You Nazi.

I think dennis just had an orgasm...

Thanks John.

Now I have to go to sleep with that image ;-o

and to make matters worse, now you owe him a new keyboard...

How do you know he keeps his keyboard in the loo?

I think it's probably you who keeps his keyboard in the loo, judging by
the ****e you post.

We've had that in a local village for ages and it works far better than

Think we have it round here as well, or at least if you ask the local
plod they will get the hairdryer and make a show of using it. Trouble
is the policing has now changed and "our local plod" now cover most
of NE Cumbria...

Hi-viz waist coats hung on gate posts and visible from a distance
work quite well as well. But only for a short while but if they are
moved about the area randomly...

In a village near here they have one of those scarecrow festivals that
seem to be getting more popular. One that on first glance looked like
a speed gun wielding Policeman probably slowed more people down in the
week it was there than any speeding campaign.
What was worrying was the eyesight of drivers who were flashing
headlamp warnings to oncoming motorists That should worry plod as
well,There was a time when a Policeman in his uniform stood out
distinctively ,now with the trend to wear a uniform that in many
cases seems to try and intimidate by looking like SAS Lite anything
with a bit of Hi Viz, bulky waist coat and a hat can look like them.
If anything the scarecrow looked smarter.

Ironically, the SAS is one job where H&S requires *not* wearing HiViz ;-

True, maybe Military Lite would have been a better phrase. Anyways my
point is really that the Police now appear to dress and behave more
like troops approaching a war zone than acting like the Civil power,
which though they refer to non police as Civilian is still what they
really are. I appreciate that some of their work is not as comfy as
was depicted in Dixon of Dock Green but also feel that to an extent
they have reaped what they have sowed. Probably too long a a subject
to be OT here.

I saw the cops near here out with their speed guns, wearing hi-viz yellow jackets. They were standing in front of a hi-viz road sign that made them almost invisible, the sneaky gits.

No, Dennis, I wasn't.

No, Dennis, I wasn't.

Even if you were, it's got **** all to do with dennis.

Everything in the world is something to do with Dennis - according to him.

By 3 things do you mean the person with the speed gun and two like

No - 3 things about the vehicle

Action = a letter?

Letter first and 2nd times. A knock on the door the third time.

But still no conviction?
