On looking at the data sheets for the gun cleaners, it seems to be
mostly acetone.

Yup. Hence a cheap way to buy acetone in quantity without the H&S/Anti
terrorist Nazis getting all of a quiver...!

Have you seen the price of gun-cleaner solution?
Typical ripoff for a different (slightly anonymous) name on the can -
many makers must be a bit ****ed off now the public can look up the
safety data sheet.
