Default Partially blocked drain

Have a partially blocked drain from the shower tray outlet.

Can anyone recommend a suitable product to clear the drain?

Many thanks
Neil

My preference for bath/shower for sulphuric. Brands like One Shot Drain
Cleaner are available from good hardware stores as well as sheds like
B&Q. Read the instructions carefully.

Cheers

Caustic soda.

Depends on the cause of the blockage.

Caustic soda (eg Mr Muscle gel, or pure caustic pearles). Leave overnight,
add warning sign if oters in house, that stuff will take yer skin off.

Full strength bleach can do quite well if the blockage is a bit of hair
matted with bacterial slime.

Are you on mains drains or septic system?. I'd be wary of strong
chemicals on a septic system. The blockage is probably caused by hair
getting caught then collecting skin/body oils/soap(*) residue.
Mechanical removal would be best, decent shower traps have removeable
grids so you can get at the trap without having to get underneath the
tray.

(*) Bar soap forms a scum even with very soft water. Shower gels etc
are detergent based and don't form a scum.

Yes, fingers - they're free!

You've probably got a trap whose innards are accessible from above - and
it's probably that which is blocked.

If it's like mine, there will be a chrome grill which you can lift off.
You will then see a vertical flat piece of plastic - which is the handle
for the innards. Turn that anti-clockwise, and lift out the innards.
Thoroughly clean everything and then re-assemble it.

If you want to avoid chemicals, a bit of wire with a small hooked end will
usually fish out clumps of hair.
Hair and soap mixed are most likely the culprit (unless all users are devoid
of fur that is).
Easier if the waste grid is removable as others have suggested.

Washing soda left overnight, followed by a plunger usually sorts mine.
