Default "O"s

Not a two Ronnie's sketch but a quest for a supplier.

I need a petrol resistant "O" ring for an old camping stove. The "O" ring I
need to replace is 7mm outer diameter, and 4mm inner diameter, but Google is
not being very helpful. Any ideas where I can buy specific size "O" rings?

Mike

You'll get lots of suppliers if you Google O ring - but buying just one
might be a problem. Have you looked at the selection packs in B&Q,
Halfords, etc?

4.1 x 7.3mm is a stock size.

RS Comps code 128-805 looks like it would do the job, 2.54 + vat for 50.
They accept web orders from non account holders but will add a bit for
handling/postage.

If that's too steep then their data is good, extract the BS code for the
size of ring you need and google for it directly to get alternate
sources (eg ebay). Nitrile is spec'd for petrol I believe.

You clearly haven't bought one of those boxes of O rings from
LidlAldis. Worth doing next time they are in.

You can never imagine a need for an O Ring when they are on sale. However,
when they are not available a need arises. Likewise - if you need a wiper
blade they are not in stock. When they are you can't remember the size you
need.

Do you live anywhere near a proper - old fashioned - hardware shop (not
a shed!)? Chances are they will have a box of assorted O-rings - some of
which should be the right size.

'Ose coupling O' rings are all over ebay too. Some are silly prices
others much better.

More and more, ebay is my first port of call for this sort of thing.

Maybe that's where Lidl/Aldi get their O rings from - they're
assortments of whatever hasn't sold elsewhere.

B-)

I don't like assortment boxes as you'll only ever use one or two
sizes but the box lulls you into a false sense of security "I have a
box of those".

The when you do need (another) one you find you box never had that
size in the first place or you have already used 'em all. You're then
back at the need to buy a widget or another selcetion box from which
you will still only use one or two sizes...

I need O rings that can be verified as being EPDM and I buy them from
this company. They are very helpful, but they do have a £30 minimum
order charge:

It is a while since I was in one, but I used them for odd O rings in small
quantities for only a few pence each at the trade counter. If you have one
near you this

Its not that I can't imagine a use for them. I regularly buy them,
especially for hose fittings, but can never find the buggers when I
want them

In Australia we can get single rings at bearing specialists.
