Hitachi DV18DCl2/JC review
Following the untimely demise of my Makita 14.4v combi, I needed a replacement ASAP. Best deal I could find was the Hitachi 18v Li-Ion from B&Q at £89. http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=11127512&fh_loca tion=//catalog01/en_GB/categories%3C{9372015}/categories%3C{9372047}/categories%3C{9372203}/categories%3C{9392094}/specificationsProductType=cordless/specificationsSpecificProductType=combination_dril ls Used it today for 2 jobs. Drilled 20+ holes it walls, tiles etc. Good spec, 13mm chuck, 22 torque settings, hammer & drill functions, 2 x 15 a/hr batteries & a smart charger. Obviously a quality tool. Bargain at £89. Can't really fault it. Compared to the Makita 14.4v though, it just doesn't match up. Doesn't feel as comfortable in the hand, speed control nowhere near as good & I reckon the Mak has more welly despite the extra volts on the Hitachi. -- Dave - The Medway Handyman www.medwayhandyman.co.uk |

It has the same torque as my 18V NiCd Makita combi (43 v 42), so that's quite low for li-ion. Unsual to have 2 batteries for that price, especially 15Ah! -- Peter.
