Default Free Fork Lift

From Wokingham Freecycle. If anyone is interested sign up to that
group and search, or post back here with an email I can unscramble and
forward to the OP. I've cut out the OP's details!

"Bit of a long shot - anyone want a broken down gas fork lift truck. It
is currently at my work address which is in Bourne End, Bucks so you
would need to be able to collect from there. It has a hydraulic oil
leak and is no longer viable for us to repair, so has been replaced. It
would need craning or winching up onto a flatbed. May be of interest to
someone (perhaps for scrap). If you would like to take a look please
e-mail (withheld) or call me on (withheld)."

Surely if it has scrap value, he will have no difficulty in finding a local
scrap dealer to take it away

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember "tim...."
saying something like:

Bit beyond most scrappies' recovery trucks. Need a specialised
low-loader which I've only seen the forky recovery guys use.

Nothing is beyond a scrappie's ability to get it onto the wagon!

Some of our local culturally inclined collectors of unsecured metals
were shifting a fork lift a while back - by towing it down the road
behind their van! Ploddio had other ideas when they saw it.

Dad used to move fork lifts years ago, long before beavertails were
around. He just stuck two planks down and winched them up onto a
flatbed wagon. The same principle was applied to everything from cars
to machine tools to hovercraft (hovercraft are a bugger to load).
