Power Shower Spec
Folks,
My father is looking at installing a power shower (NewTeam NT 1500-XT). This beasty does not have a separate pump - apparently one is included in the control unit that you attach to the wall. You simply connect hot and cold feeds, wire it up, and away you go. The manufacturer's brochure says that the bottom of the header tank must be 1m above the top of the maximum height of the shower head. This seems a little excessive given that in most houses the tank sits in the loft about 20cm above where the shower head is likely to be. Does this seem correct? Is it likely to work with a separation of less than the recommended 1m? (Before you flame me with 'RTFM' type comments, I'm sure you've all experienced situations where manufacturers are just trying to cover their backs by being over-cautious). Cheers, Matt |

Normal reason for specifying minimum height is because the power shower works on pressure difference to start the pump. If there is not enough 'head' then when you turn on the shower there is not enough flow to activate the pump. It will probably have occured to you already that if you have a problem then you just have to lower the shower head temporarily to start the flow. HTH Dave R |
