Default Anthracite coal ash on the garden - bad or OK?

Normally coal ash isn't recommended for composting - I presume to heavy
metals that may be present (eg Hg).

Anyone know the specifics of anthracite in contrast? Suitable or not for the
compost bin?

Sorry - did an insufficient google. Tried again with different terms. Seems
that it has the risk of arsenic etc but is also low in potassium unlike wood
ash, so there's no net benefit and an element of risk.

s'ok I wasn;t being sniffy :)
a good question... I have to remember not to chuck ash from burning
painted wood (ahem, whistle....) into the compost or on the flower
beds.... also some of our garden seems to be "made" of old "red" fire
ashes - let's say "not a lot grows there......" - you didn't happen to
see anything specifically about red fire ash did you?

cheers

Some people out there reckon it's good in the ice as something to sprinkle
on the ice.
