Hi,
following on from my previous question, a few things: (1) If I am laying a 15 square metre, 4"/100mm thick, concrete slab as the base for a shed/workshop do I need to include any steel reinforcement? (2) Is it a good idea to include a plastic damp proof membrane? If so, do I have to lay the slab in two layers (one below the membrane, one above)? If so, do I have to let the first layer dry? (Difficult if getting the whole lot ready mixed). (3) What are the alterntives to crushed old brick as a hardcore base? (4) Should the base be wider than the shed? One site recommends a 2" strip all round. I was thinking that if the shed was flush with a raised concrete base then water would just run straight down past the concrete and you wouldn't have to worry about water coming along the concrete under the base of the shed. (5) Oh.........and why couldn't I find anything in the Wiki about this? The 'concrete' page http://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?...ete_%26_Mortar seems to be empty. TIA Dave R |
