Default BBC Interview

Hi. I'm working for the BBC. I'm trying to arrange an interview with
anyone who is planning on doing any DIY over the Easter break. It's
for a special feature on BBC Breakfast, and will go out on Monday
morning. Anywhere in the country would be fine. If anyone is
interested, E mail me at It would be great
if we could have a chat and see what we can do. Thanks a lot Johny

How much are you paying ?

BBC breakfast researchers - a load of ******s pushing out misinformation
on a regular basis

I'll never forget that silly doctor woman saying that a) its illegal to
work on your own boiler and you should only buy parts from a CORGI
registered merchant

**** off

.... sort of in line with the response I got when I complained about the
above

Thursday April 8th.
Hi: I'm in Newfoundland, Canada.
Just read your email. Seems like awful short notice; unless you are
trying to emulate a programme over here called "Disaster DIY"!
Got lots of things to fix, come on over and we can pick something that
needs fixing. e.g.
a) Dish washer door falls down; intending to install a used d.washer
my daughter gave me.
b) The clothes dryer has be checked; not drying as quickly. Suspect it
is one of the two heating elements. But check.
c) Take the winter weights out of the pick up, remove the studded
winter tyres and instal my summer wheels. Before May 1st.
d) Sweep the wood stove chimney, dfisassembling the sectional metal
funnels connecting to masonry chimney to do so.
e) Slight intermittent problem with timer on clothes washer, probably
one single contact, it stops shortly before completing its spin cycle.
Have a used spare timer somewhere. Cos a new timer (if vailable) can
cost $70+!
f) Scrap one of the microwaves in the kitchen and replace it with one
of several used ones we have.
g) The toaster often won't latch down first time; gotta get at that
one of these years (decades)!
h) Have at least two locations that should be rewired with our North
American GFI outlets (RCD style) outlets.
i) Clean all the leaves and other winter debris out of the five
basement window wells.
j) Replace the bathroom sink. Might as well get new taps while at it;
the existing ones are second set in 39 years.
k) Since the snow has finally just about all gone gone and temp today
shot up from zero the night before to +12 C, clean up the quarter acre
of yard between daughter's and my house. Take resulting load of trash/
garbage to dump (tip) in our pickup.
However generally not impreessed by TV/Radio do it-your-self
programmes etc.
And particularly those 'academics' who have an attitude of "I'm too
smart, to well educated to understand how to actually fix something!":
Can't hit a nail straight, or even know what kind of nails or
screwdriver to use! And then ask inane questions of competent persons
inveigled into an interview. Painful to watch!
Recalling a BBC TV programme many years ago about how to change a tyre
on a caravan. AND THE JACK WOULDN"T FIT UNDER THE AXLE. Nobody had
rehearsed it!
Have fun anyway!

For anyone thinking of taking up the offer, the standard fee paid for
such appearances is £1600 so make damn sure that you demand it.

Sod it, double that for being expected to do the work at such short notice.

We're just being aggressively reasonable.

No Ian.
But we ARE being agressively reasonable though!
