hi, i've got a space above the bathroom boxing section which also has
a shaver socket that i've removed the front of. i want to put in this
space a large mirror and preferably an anti misting heating pad
behind, which i can wire from the shaver socket. is this possible ?
and where would i look for the mirror and heating pad? it needs to be
around 1.2 m wide square approx mayber higher than it is wide.

help on this type thing. They make acrylic mirrors which are virtually
condensation free. You save money on the electrical running costs as well
as get a mirror that will last for years and years through the rigors of a
bathroom environment.

They work great for security mirrors as well, but that's a different story.

acrylic mirror do you get a clear reflection? i'm sure i've seen
similar type mirrors where the image looks a bit distorted and / or
the film has damaged

Use with a piece of mirror glass cut to size by your local glass
place.

The image is clear enough for security mirrors. I like them because they
are good in exposed areas like carparks Etc. And they stand a lot of knocks
and bumps. The metal one are heavy and can go a bit rusty after a while if
left outside. The Acrylic ones seems to stand the test of time without any
distortion.

acrylic deteriorates too much to look even half ok in a house. At
first, yes. Any glass supplier will do you a mirror to your spec.

Generally a heated mirror is wired to the bathroom light, so it is not on
all the time, so unless you can arrange the old shaver socket wiring to
connect this way, you may end up wasting a lot of power on this heater if it
is on all the time!

i doubt the shaver socket has wiring linked to the light switch, in
fact im pretty sure it doesnt. IIRC there are 3 reds and 3 black wires
behind it.

toby you are right about it costing a lot if always on.

seeing as ive got a good fan (vent axia solo plus) maybe condensation
wont be such a problem.

any more opinions on whether acryllic mirror is clear enough for a
bathroom? it will be for shaving, washing face, doing hair etc. its
not likely to get knocked or anything.
