Default caulking gun

Hello,

I see Toolstation sell a battery operated caulking gun (code 86917).
Has anyone used it? I've been trying to glue coving and my arm was
aching after using a manual gun. Are these automated ones any good or
just a gimmick?

TIA
Stephen.

Would have thought that it's easier (and cheaper) to use the big tubs of
coving adhesive and trowel it on. It's what I've always done and never had
a problem.

I did some more after posting my message and opened a new tube. That
was much easier to "squirt". The new tube arrived today, the old tube
had been on the garage shelf for months, so I guess it had started to
harden, which is why I had difficulty with it.

I've never seen tubs before, I must look for them next time.

Still wondering whether to try this new toy though

Some time ago I suffered tennis elbow - and suspect that use of mastic
guns contributed to that. At any rate, it made using a mastic gun very
painful. Did think about something like this but at the time could only
find much more expensive models. Hope someone responds - or you buy one
an report!

If you have a compressor...

Although common it frequently goes undiagnosed.

I don't know about that one, but I use the Ryobi One+ mastic gun and
it is brilliant.

You get an even bead, and it is effortless and does not hurt your hand
like a manual gun trigger does after a while. The output speed can be
varied, so if you want lots out for sticking a panel, or just a fine
bead, its easy, and as slow or fast as you like

If you regularly use a mastic gun, then I recommend a cordless one.
Definitely not a gimmick
