drugs began to take hold. I remember "RW" saying
something like:

You'd be wrong - one series of books that Haynes got very right were the
carburettor ones, I'm thinking especially of the SU.

Far better to take an angle grinder to it

The Haynes specialist manuals are generally pretty good. The car electrics
one especially so.
