Default 7" drawn brass butts

Not strictly DIY but I have a customer trying to restore a very old door to
its original state, I'm in the process of making keys for the solid brass
mortice lock, however she requires 7" drawn brass butt hinges.
All our suppliers have come up blank, do the wise ones on this group have
any suggestions or links as to where I/she might fing such hinges.
Thanks

Well, there's always the DIY option - get several lumps of brass and
file to shape :-)

(My father once made a model whale gun like this. It looks like it
ought to be easy, but the section is rather like a figure 8 - so there
was a LOT of brass to file away.)

I don't expect that you will find 7" drawn brass butts ex-stock, so
they may have to be specially made.

Also try your local office of English Heritage, who have access to a
lot of specialist knowledge and (in my experience) are usually keen to
help point you in the right direction.

It seems that 100mm is the largest manufactured nowadays, so the only
suggestions I can make is either to braze a pair together, try a salvage
yard or even more expensive have them 'tailor-made'.

Don.

If the latter is a possibility, you could try http://www.hinge.co.uk/ -
haven't used them, just googled them.

Any blacksmiths round by you?

Drawn? that size they'll likely be cast.

Anyway, try Relics in Witney. Otherwise the ironmongers in Ross-on-Wye

Thanks for all your replies, there's a couple of good suggestions there.
It might be easier to get our customer to contact them direct with her
requirements.
