We don't use google to read the group, so can't do that. Still many ISPs
filter much of it first anyway.

Because uk.d-i-y *ISN'T* a google group, it *IS* a usenet group, what
you are using is a web interface to the real thing, which makes life
worse for you, and often for those using a proper news client too.

There are numberous proper usenet clients

You've at least embarked on the road to illumination and righteousness.

The next steps are to use a non-Microsoft news reader and then an
operating system.

Following this, you can aspire to the True Way with a Mac.

Have a look at:

pros and cons of using web front ends like google to do it.

But if you found google groups, why didn't you try a search for news groups
or usenet, which is (roughly) the other name for news groups.

There are quite literally hundreds and hundreds of web pages that will tell
you all about news groups, protocol, netiquette and so on, some good, some
not so good. At least that way you will get a broader view of what it's all
about, rather than relying on what could be just one or two peoples' views.

I don't see any spam.
But then, I don't use spam infested googlegroups.
Plenty of free newsreaders around, with decent filtering facilities.

Interesting that one of the few of your posts to be available on Google
(for archive access only) was in a thread started by spam.

Excellent, then it serves its purpose in ensuring that a minimum
intelligence level is required to post to a newsgroup. Even if that
benchmark is set rather low, since Drivel manages to do it.

uk.d-i-y is not a "goole" group or come that a Google group. Google
provides a web interface to usenet for the clueless and stupid. As a
result the posts from those using Google tend to be a complete waste of
time, made by those who can't be bothered to format their replies or
even to snip material such as signatures from the post that they are
replying to.

Fortunately all such posts are easily identified as originating from
Google and one can set up a kill-file to delete them unread which makes
the place a bit neater.

ooobooontooo

That is a step in the right direction and is reputed to have a good
selection of drivers for hardware support. I personally prefer to
live nearer the edge with Fedora myself, but each to his own.

Yes - the Firth is a ****wit club. Membership should reach
astronomical proportions in record time.

You really are a sad ****. Haven't you got some moaning to do and
advertising to post? Oh if you coudl try to fit in some of you usual
ego-preening references to photographs of other people's work and
whinign about other people's websites it would help to establish your
reputation as the biggest waste of oxygen on this newsgroup.

Alas not the verdict of the majority

In your dreams, you sad ****er.

I would be amazed if you could find just one person to support your
unpleasant, unhelpful and frequently foul mouthed approach in any of the
ngs that you infect.
