Default kitchen worktop

i have recently started fitting a new worktop in my kitchen. But
typically have hit a problem half way through the job. for some reason
i didnt look closely at how my gas hob was fitted to the old worktop
and now it looks like it may need to be disconnected in order to swap
the old worktop for new

does anyone know if gas hobs are fitted in a standard way so that
worktops can be removed without messing with gas connections (it is a
indesit hob if that makes a difference)

or would i need to disconnect it, and therefore get a plumber in to do
this for me?

i know there is not much information to go on, so if any pictures etc
would help please let me know. i would rather do the whole job myself
and save the expense (that being the orignal idea of fitting it
myself) but obviously i dont want to risk a gas related incident

That's standard I'm afraid - it's a "gas" job to disconnect and
reconnect a hob so unless you are "competent" to do it, you should get a
CORGI in to do it.

These days you have to have fixed pipework and a shut-off valve for a
hob, which may be different to what you have now.
