Default Dry verge end caps

I am getting a few quotes in for replacing the soffits and fascias
along with the fitting of dry verge end caps and one company told me
over the phone that the correct way to fit the end caps is to have
them slotted and screwed(?), as opposed to being glued.
This sounds good but were they just spinning me a line? plus can
anybody tell me what I should be asking the firms when they come
round.

TIA

Dave

Are you being quoted for complete re placement or capping over the old
timber soffits & fascias.
Check the thickness of the board, Make sure they use the correct adhesive on
jointing strips not silicon, what distance apart are the fixing nails and
length
What distance are the gutter bracket apart, should be no more than 30" or
900mm
Slotted and screwed is the correct way for cap ends.
Ask for a felt underlay support, known as OFFST, over fascia felt support
tray. This is a must, it fits under the old felt and carries the felt over
the fascia into the gutter.
Ask if they will be using scaffolding or just working off ladders, by
ladders I mean just ladders if just ladders, you cant do a satisfactory job
off ladders.
Ask if they are covered by public liability insurance.
Payment on completion only, no payment up front.
