Default How to connect to thin walled 32mm P trap?

I've got a chromed 32mm basin trap but the metal is very thin and a
compression 32mm fitting won't close onto it. The o/d is about 32.5mm
whereas the spec for solvent pipe is 36mm o/d and push-fit pipe is 34mm o/d.

This must be a standard problem with an easy solution for "them as knows".
???

Dave
