Default Biker hits & kills child and claims compensation

Harry Bloomfield verbally sodomised in

Ian expressed precisely :
What crime? He crossed the road in a negligent manner, but what law
does that break?

No he didn't, he was playing chicken - a deliberate act.

Is playing chicken a crime?

No, that means causing GBH is a crime, not playing chicken.
If they played chicken and didn't cause GBH, no crime has been committed.

Well...actually, if they placed someone in fear of immediate personal
injury or harm, then assault has been committed. If they unlawfully
apply a force, then battery has been committed. The harm caused can
lead to ABH or GBH liability.
In Law, a certain level of intent (mens rea) is required in addition to
the act (actus reus). The mens rea required for Assault, Battery, ABH
and S20 GBH is Cunningham, or subjective, recklessness. Essentially, if
the kid would have realised that his actions were reckless, then he
would be liable criminally for the harm caused, hence the biker going
to the criminal injuries compensation scheme.
