Heat or Smoke Detector in Garage
Hi all
I am looking at putting linked mains heat/smoke detectors around the house and in the garage (the garage has an extension over it). I am reluctant to put a smoke detector in there as I use the garage as a workshop - plumbing works etc would presumably trigger a smoke alarm. Would a heat detector be affected by the temperature rise from a car engine on a winter's night? Yes I know I could troll the manufacturers' sites, but was looking for less biased user feedback. TIA Phil |

If you want a smoke detector, then an optical will be less resistant to false alarms than an ionisation. Whilst planning your system, ensure your kitchen has a heat detector and that you do everything within the regs to ensure that smoke detectors are far from the kitchen. Christian. |

Sorry about the "no". I was originally replying to the question about whether the engine would set off the heat detector, but snipped that bit! Christian. |
