Default fitting techniques for DIY windows/doors

The only PVCu window I've fitted is one from B&Q, and it had tags that
slide into the profile to fix it to the wall, so you didn't have to
remove the glazing. Is this a common system or would you usually have
to remove the glazing.
What about the windows and french windows from screwfix. Does anyone
know how these are fitted ?
Simon.
